Charlotte Uptown Condos: The Next Big Thing

Charlotte is getting some cool uptown housing. The skyline will change over the next several years as residential towers are being built. Some have roof top terraces and private garages. They are close to work, parks, shopping, restaurants and pubs. Just imagine living, working, shopping, dining, sports and theater just a couple blocks away. This is especially enticing with the price of gas today. Uptown condos are becoming renown for their luxurious living and lavish amenities including putting greens, swimming pools and dog parks. The maintenance-free lifestyle is attracting many people and creating a market for the multi-family niche.

In the 1990's the uptown center city was dominated by office towers. Almost a decade later the buzz is residential high rises. Two of these high-rises will reach 50 stories, competing with the city's tallest office buildings, the 60-story Bank of America Building, the 46-story Hearst Tower, and the 46-story Wachovia Tower which will open in 2009.

Charlotte Center City Partners predicts the uptown population will grow from just over 11,000 today to 21,000 by 2010 as people move into the high-rises and other uptown residential projects. The demand for these units has been steady as occupants make a lifestyle choice to live among the skyscrapers.
