Lake Norman

Lake Norman is 25 miles North of Charlotte and has 520 miles of shoreline. After the completion of I-77 in the mid-seventies, the Lake Norman area, which includes the towns of Cornelius, Huntersville and Davidson, has blossomed. As happens with rapid growth properties, and especially lake areas, infrastructure must receive top priority, while keeping in mind the quality of life of current and future residents. In each instance, developers and planners have performed admirably. The area abounds with parks, restaurants, shopping, marinas, and medical facilities.

Historic sites have been preserved and small-town appeal has been maintained. Davidson, for instance, is still very much a college town featuring many cultural and sporting events. Mooresville, just to the North, is widely known as Race City USA and hosts NASCAR teams and associated interests. Whether on a lakefront lot or nearby, the lake is open to all.

Notable area sites include Lake Norman State Park, the Lazy 5 Ranch, Latta Plantation Nature Preserve, Jetton Park, Ramsey Creek Park, and private and public golf courses (The Peninsula, The Point, and Birkdale Golf Club).

The Western side of Lake Norman has recently begun to see substantial growth, with particular appeal to residents who are looking for lakefront properties with lower price tags, good schools, a more laid-back small-town lifestyle, while still within commuting range to Uptown, Mooresville, Lake Norman and the University area.
